There is nothing I love more than travelling to a new place. Seeing novel things, having exciting experiences and meeting new people. I wish I could do this more often.
With the average cost of one night in a hotel in Europe sitting at around €120, the cost of travelling for extended periods is too much to afford.
I’m not going to spend €3500 on hotel costs for a month of travelling. It’s an exorbitant amount to spend. I’m sure the same is true for most of us.
What if I told you there is a much cheaper, smarter way to travel?
By following this way, you’ll immediately cut out the €3500 you would’ve spent on hotels. You could probably see three or four extra countries with a saving like that.
How to stay for FREE and get the inside scoop on the city
Well, today I’ve found a way for you to not only cut out the hefty costs of hotels, but also get a sneak peek into what life in that city is really like.
You’ll get to see the best bits of the city by getting people in the know to show you around.
You’ll meet locals and experience the culture from the inside (an experience you usually wouldn’t get as a tourist).
Also, you’ll get a chance to discover other free places to stay in different countries by building up contacts. Look, Europe is a small place. You might even be able to wrangle a free lift to a neighbouring country if you’re lucky. This means you make additional savings on transport costs.
Visit the free hotel of couches
If you haven’t already guessed it by now, the company that provides this amazing networking platform is Couchsurfing.
It’s a simple but ingenious web platform that is all the rage amongst adventurous travellers. Furthermore, it allows you to connect with host friends in other countries and stay with them (on their couches) for free.
You can meet via Skype beforehand and decide if you’d like to be friends. If you’ve been at it for a while, you might have dozens of friends’ couches to sleep on all across the world.
With Couchsurfing, you’ll build lasting friendships and meet people with the same interests as you.
