Also, you’ll get a chance to discover other free places to stay in different countries by building up contacts. Look, Europe is a small place. You might even be able to wrangle a free lift to a neighbouring country if you’re lucky. This means you make additional savings on transport costs.

If you haven’t already guessed it by now, the company that provides this amazing networking platform is Couchsurfing.

It’s a simple but ingenious web platform that is all the rage amongst adventurous travellers. Furthermore, it allows you to connect with host friends in other countries and stay with them (on their couches) for free.

You can meet via Skype beforehand and decide if you’d like to be friends. If you’ve been at it for a while, you might have dozens of friends’ couches to sleep on all across the world.
